Getting Some Time In

August 7, 2013

Time is often taught in a negative manner when we give our children "time outs," but a nurse and mother developed the the Time IN Doll tp give mom or dad a moment of personal time while a child works on motor skills.

Karen Barski, mom of five and 19-year nurse, uses the Time IN Dolls in her home to keep everything in balance and when things start to get out of hand, but before a time out is needed, she sets the timer in the doll and says, "Mommy needs a minute and when the timer goes off, you will have my full attention."

The hip doll collection teaches tie laces, zip, snap, button and Velcro while mom or dad takes a breather to recompose during a tense situation.

"Teaching time through time outs is not effective when kids are upset and angry or worried about when they can get out of time out," says Barski. "Having the Time IN Dolls have made it easy for my little ones to grasp the concept of time and learn common courtesy and manners."
