Come to Aid of Others

December 6, 2012 - Amy Leigh Wilson
During this special time of the year, our family tries to find little ways to share what we have and help others. This year, there are a lot of people in need. Hurricane Sandy victims are still trying to recover from devastation to their homes and businesses. Every church, school, and community group that I know of is holding food or toy drives. And then there are the charities we each hold near and dear — animal charities, children’s groups, world humanitarian aid and more. While writing What’s New this month, I discovered When I Need of Kindness (WINK) bags. I was touched by the story of a mom who started the company when her three-year-old almost drowned. The bags come stocked with toiletry products and when you purchase one, they donate one to families staying at Ronald McDonald House. Check out their challenge for this holiday season on Page 15. I don’t think I’d be able to buy ONLY socially conscious products, but I’ll try to do better. We can all try to shop locally, too. Let’s help out where we can this year. If you read my column last month and saw the Gift Guide feature on Lucky Puppy, please note that I made a mistake. The website is www.luckypuppyonline.com. If you didn’t read it, check out their website anyway. Enjoy every minute of the rest of 2012. I wish many blessings for you and your family.
