Slave to the schedule

September 6, 2012 - Amy Leigh Wilson
September is all about schedules in our house. Everyone has to adjust to actually moving when they get out of bed -- instead of my family's usual migration from the bed to the couch. My kids are in different schools this year and my oldest starts a full hour earlier than her brother. That alone has changed my schedule because one breakfast has turned to two and I have to leave the house early for my 40-minute commute to work. Luckily, I'm the kind of person who loves organized schedules and living by them. My family, however, prefers to fly by the seat of their pants. The dissonance can make for some rough starts to the day (even on the weekends). While we try to find a happy medium so I can relax sometimes and they can get to school and practices on time, we struggle. I hope your struggles are few in these first few weeks of a new schedule. Good luck!
