Transitions Time

May 4, 2012 - Amy Leigh Wilson
May is filled with transitions. We, hopefully, make the final transformation from winter to spring. As parents, we move our little ones from preschool to kindergarten, or high school to college. My own daughter will transition from middle to high school. Watching my kids grow up and change into young adults is all at once amazing and frustrating. I worry, as we all do, about giving them too much attention or too much freedom. And I wonder if I’ve given them all the skills they need to be strong, compassionate and sharing adults. I guess I’ve begun my transition too, looking for more things that interest me personally now that my kids are on their own a little more. I still spend the bulk of my time driving them around and cheering at their sports and activities, but I’ve found I?have some time to read a good book and my husband and I?even take ballroom dancing lessons now for a little “couple” time. While we make our way into summer, I?hope you embrace your own transitions and those of your kids. I?hope these precious years leave you with a sense of awe over just how blessed we are to raise children.
